15 of us enjoyed a very lovely day learning and exploring Cyanotype with Libby Mornement from Bloemen & Blue. After a short talk and explanation about Cyanotype we were all given an envelope with pre printed papers to experiment with. We all used a fern to make our first print. Sadly no sunshine so we had to use the huge UV box Libby had set up as a sun substitute. After 30 minutes the prints had to be washed and we all watched the magic happen – the grey colour changes into the lovely deep blue we associate with Cyanotype.
We were then given papers to paint ourselves with the cyanotype chemicals which were then hung in a big dark box out of the light whilst it dried. The day carried on with us using our papers and a piece of fabric to create lots of images, whist always getting tips and help from Libby. We all went away happy and inspired. A great day and a big thank you to Libby.
