Clare Edwards – A Defiant Approach to Hand Emboidery

Clare will describe her journey to becoming a mixed media hand embroidery artist working both traditional and contemporary hand embroidery techniques and combining these with alternative materials such as concrete, resin and wood.

Clare has an MA Contemporary Embroidery & BA (Hons) Textile Surfaces at Staffordshire University and is a Lecturer in Textiles and Surface Pattern Design at Staffordshire University

She won the Hand & Lock prize for embroidery 2017 Student Fashion category and 2nd Prize in the Bradford Textiles competition 2020. She also won First Prizes in Embroidery and Unconventional Materials categories
