Vanessa Rolf – Unearthed; Stories Told Through Stitch

Textile Artist Vanessa Rolf will introduce her working methods researching archives, using maps and delving into stories about people and landscapes. Her series of works, created in response to Hampshire Cultural Trust’s archives of archaeological artefacts, questions the value of things, what we choose to keep, how we treasure objects, and how these shape our ideas about being human.
Vanessa primary uses hand stitch and inlaid appliqué methods with wool felt. Her practice also often includes reusing fabric that holds traces of its previous story.
Vanessa has an MA Mixed Media Textiles – Royal College of Art, and is a member of the 62 Group of Textile Artists. She is also a Royal College of Art Fellow
