Experimental mark making and printing workshop – Ann Smith

Experimental mark making and printing workshop – Ann Smith

We had a full house for Ann’s exciting mark making and printing workshop recently.  For the last couple of years Ann has lead a “make your own  card” session at our Christmas workshop supplying a wonderful variety her own papers to choose from but this year, responding to requests, she decided to give members the opportunity of making their own papers in advance.

We had been encouraged to bring our own brushes, gelli plates, stencils and any mark making tools that could be useful to create patterns and designs for our papers and Ann kindly brought along a wonderful variety of paints.

We started off with a very large piece of paper and Ann suggested various different mark making ideas.  Sticks, old credit cards, rollers, old cotton reels, the list was endless.

Some people chose autumn as their colour scheme and used found leaves on their gelli plates while others used stencils to add to their designs.  We used white and black papers and Ann showed us how to copy an image from a glossy magazine onto a gelli plate and subsequently onto paper.

It was a fun day and we all left with a wonderful selection of papers ready for our Christmas Workshop in a few weeks time.

Thank you Ann!
