The idea of the workshop was to get members together for a festive day stitching with Christmas in mind but rather like Topsy – it grew!. We all have a stash of fabrics, ribbons, threads and embellishments that could be usefully turned into simple bags for presents or as part of a decorating theme if only we could find the time to do it. Two committee members , Amanda and Michelle volunteered to make some examples and provide instruction and guidance at the event so plans were made. Then we thought how nice it would be to provide all members with a small Christmas gift in the form of a £10 voucher for Sew Craft which could be used to purchase fabric, threads or embellishments to make said bags (in case they didn’t have enough in the stash!) so Tase was deputed to get that organised!
On the day Kennet Valley Hall was full of the buzz of contented folk as a goodly number of members took advantage of the opportunity to spend a day stitching in congenial company. Tase had a wonderful stall full of fabrics, threads, ribbons, sparkly things, bells and embellishments in general – and she did a roaring trade. Those members unable to be there on the day were able to collect their voucher at the next meeting, they are valid for six months and Sew Craft is easy to find. Judging by the volume of chat and laughter it was a very successful event!
