Ploughman’s followed by machine demos – April 2013

Picture

For our April meeting we all arrived early and enjoyed a delicious ham & cheese ploughman’s lunch.  Our thanks to members of the committee for organising it.

The main aim of the day was to make everybody aware of the various machines which the group owns and which can be borrowed by members.

The overlocker was demonstrated by Ann K.
Christine H showed a group of members how the cord twister works.  The length of the cord is determined by the size of table used as each end of the gadget must be anchored down with a clamp.
Kath D working on the Guild’s embellishing machine.
In a quiet corner Judy J showed a group of us how to do peyote stitch for beading.

Helen L is in charge of the Guild’s machines so if you would like to borrow one, please contact her.  Speak to her at a meeting or you will find her number on the members’ address & telephone list.

The charge is £5 for one month and collection takes place during a Stitch Day.  Broken needles for the embellisher are charged at £2 each.  There is a DVD available in the Guild Library which explains the overlocker.

Our next meeting is on Monday 13 May when member, Dale Armitage, will be taking about “Board Stitching” and we will be making final plans for our SW Regional Festival Day on Saturday 18 May.  Don’t forget to buy your ticket!  See details on the home page of this website.
