After a hectic time preparing for, and attending our Summer Exhibition in June, members took part in more informal events in July.
At the beginning of the month everyone was treated to a glass of Nosecco on arrival at the Summer Lunch and we all enjoyed each other’s company over a snack lunch followed by summer fruits and coffee. After lunch Ann went through the facts and figures relating to the exhibition and reminded everyone about renewing their membership in August.
Two weeks later eleven members spent a very relaxing but fun day when we were encouraged to bring along our current projects. This was a great opportunity to catch up, have a look at what everyone was doing but also to ask advice.
Yvonne was experimenting with her Intense blocks and adding stitch. Lorrain was producing some beautiful stitch samples she had started at a workshop and Jenny was checking out her cross stitch bee – she was not happy with the design!
Lindsay was continuing with a fantastic head board she had started and had decided to add some hand stitched circles. It was one of those regular dilemmas – how many and where!!
Its not very often that I have my photo on the blog but Lindsay grabbed my phone so here I am!!
Having successfully mastered the construction of a small lampshade that I exhibited at the exhibition, I started preparing the design for a large drum shape lampshade that I have been thinking about for quite a while based on our many trips to India. It is going to be a long project but it was great to get something on paper, share ideas with others and to get their suggestions.
It was such a relaxing day with members coming and going but now we have a break for a few weeks as there is no meeting in August.
