All change! – May 2015

We had to change the plans for our May meeting as unfortunately our speaker Helen Deighan could not attend due to ill health.  Instead we all enjoyed an informal afternoon where we watched exerts from DVDs in our library collection and chatted over tea and delicious home-made cakes.

We now have a good selection of DVDs for members to borrow and Ros showed exerts from several recently purchased instruction DVDs from Colouricious.  Gilda Baron showed us how to use silk paints with a kitchen scourer to produce a landscape, Jamie Malden talked about block printing and several fun examples for recycling old jumpers and left over fabrics.  There are also DVD on using an embellisher and several by well know textile artists like Jan Beaney & Jean Littlejohn so please take advantage of the library facility and borrow them.

Photos show details of forthcoming workshops (see Vernice to book), members work from Robina’s goldwork workshop, and the Chairman’s Challenge for next year’s Ruby anniversary exhibition.
Next month we have an Open Day on Monday 1 June when we will invite members from other groups and visitors to attend.  The speaker will be Kirsty Whitlock and her talk will be entitled “My journey through stitch”.  In addition we hope to have an outside trader and our regular “in house” sales table.  The doors will open at 13.30 for 14.00.
