For our April meeting we changed our usual format and the Committee kindly organised a delicious Ploughman’s lunch for members to enjoy. The aim of the day was to have the opportunity to chat, watch demonstrations and to see what others had been up to.
There was a lot of interest in Maggie H’s newly formed Sketchbook groups and those who started last year had their work on display. A second group has just started and members were keen to see what people had been doing and ask questions. Below are sample pages from Vernice’s, Yvonne’s & Ros’ sketchbooks.

The embroidery which has been hanging in the Doctors’ surgery in Marlborough has been returned to the Guild for us to carry out some conservation work.
Christine H demonstrated the new sewing machine which has recently been bought for the Young Embroiderers, Chris C demonstrated the group’s smocking machine and Ann K the overlocker. Judy J showed members her beading work and had some beautiful examples on display.
There was a “Show and Tell” table and Chris C’s Design to Stitch group displayed their recent work. In addition members had bought in their “work in progress” and it was soon obvious what a very diverse and talented Guild we are.
The next meeting of the Guild will be on Monday 12 May at 14.00 hours when the speaker will be Tiggy Rawlings and her talk will be entitled “Travels & Textiles”. Doors open at 13.30 – all are welcome and if you require further details please contact 01249 750865 or visit our website: https://www.marlboroughembroiderers.org
